Cinnamon is another antioxidant-rich, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-bacterial superfood. Plus, it makes the drink taste better.

With each of these powerful foods, this drink kicks inflammation and free radicals in the butt, along with other viral bacteria. I make this up anytime someone gets the snuffles, and if my baby is sick, I drink it myself. It has really made a difference for me. The secret to getting kids to drink it is to add a lot of honey 😉 I like to add half garlic honey and half regular. If you haven’t already, be sure to read my recipe on garlic honey! A spoonful a day keeps the gut healthy and any sickness at bay.

Now, to make this amazing drink!

  1. Add water to a cast-iron pot. I add around 10 cups (You want it to boil down to a concentration)
  2. Add 1 sliced lemon
  3. Add 1/2 a large onion (For more benefits, add a whole one; for better flavor, add less)
  4. Add a 1/2 cup of sliced ginger (I peel and slice almost all of it and add a knuckle more of whole ginger)
  5. Add 1 garlic bulb (I peel and slice each clove in half)
  6. Add 1 tsp of cinnamon
  7. Add 1/2-1 Tbsp of turmeric with a pinch of black pepper
  8. Let it come to a boil, then turn down to a simmer until the desired concentration is reached.
  9. Serve with a bit of cool water added (milk will separate and curdle DO NOT ADD MILK)
  10. Optional for taste, add a LOT of honey. I like to add garlic honey for added benefits. (It is not delicious by any means without honey. With honey, I kind of like it, but it is definitely not just a drink for pleasure.)

The drink should turn into a rich brownish, brothy color. If you try it, let me know! Don’t skip the honey…
